Geep – you know it occurred to me a couple of days
ago that I don’t know if you ever knew about the indirect
impact/success of our training sessions long ago. I can’t recall if
I ever relayed any of my successes, so I’ll take a few mins to give
them to you briefly here so you can have it in your portfolio of
successes. JIf you recall, my primary goal
was to bring my 40 yr old body back into condition for competitive
flag football. No trivial task in the bay area as the competition
and talent is real with some of the teams going on to capture
national championships. So it started with me haphazardly going out
each Saturday that first season and surviving back-to-back games of
6 man football which is considerably more active than larger teams.
Those games were subsequently followed up with a max dose of
ibuprofen, serious hydration, and a semi-conscious afternoon on the
couch. At the end of that season, is when we hooked up and started
training. Stamina, strength, flexibility and speed significantly
improved, I went on to win 3 area championships, and a quarterfinal
finish in the national playoffs over the course of a year and a
half. Of course it was team effort, but the physical training and
discipline made me a substantial individual contributor.
So maybe this is something you want to file for
yourself knowing the positive impact your training and support has
helped the Hannibal in attaining his goals. ;-)
