We hope you find this tool as useful as we do! For many runners,
increasing speed and efficiency are important goals but ultimately,
our training achievements are determined by how successfully we have
paced ourselves. Pacing is critical!When
training at the track, our goal must be to hit splits within half a
second a lap (two seconds per mile) of our planned goal pace. This
keeps the heart rate as low as possible for the given effort and
distance, increasing our ability to sustain pace over a longer
period of time.
In short, it is not always about how fast we can
run, but, how controlled we can run at speed.
Sometimes we have to run slower in order to run
faster!
